John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” Yesterday I gave a verbal offer to invest in a company, and this morning I was reflecting on my decision process and how it’s evolved over the years. I do believe God gives us brains to analyze situations, and desires for us to co-labor with him, so I do my proper due diligence. But at the same time, I’ve found myself infusing more and more prayer into this process of late. In making important decisions, many of us think of “God’s will” as a place (should I move to this city or that city?) or a job (should I take this position or that position?) or a deal (should I invest in this company or that company?) But the shocking truth is that God’s will is not a place or a job or a deal, God’s will is a person… an intimate love relationship with Jesus himself. He did not say “I will show you the way” or “I will give you a map” or “I will tell you the truth”. He said “I AM the way” and “I AM the truth". If you pick the “right” deal and go far from God, could he not change the circumstances of the whole world and make that the “wrong” deal to draw you back into relationship with Him? And if you chose the “wrong” deal but you pressed into His presence like never before, could He not shift the whole world to make it the “right” deal? Lord, the more I shift my thinking to believe that YOU are the way, the more I find my deals perform. It’s so counterintuitive, but sometimes actually believing in the bible takes some radical thinking. Help me to have more faith today. In your son’s name, Amen.
